When the two reunite once more, Daniel appears to despise Victor, refusing to give him the plane that he needs in order to help Alicia, Al, and the rest of the group, as he believes every time Victor helps people, it only makes things worse. Following Ofelia's death, Daniel interrogates Nick on what happened at the ranch, believing that Troy lead the herd. Sometime after its destruction, Daniel managed to establish his own base in a warehouse and stockpile supplies from traps he inherited from the previous owner. Victor easily forgives Daniel, stating that "we all are at times" before walking away with a smile. Later, Victor betrays Daniel and the dam to the Proctors and shoots him in under the chin, and the bullet passes through his right cheek. Daniel agrees to let Chris stand outside Reed's door, explaining to Ofelia that its better than leaving Chris alone to think dark thoughts. Daniel however does not appear to be pleased with the past atrocities he has committed or was forced to commit, and regrets being the monster that he was forced to become. At the helicopter, the pilot doesn't speak but holds a walkie, from which Al speaks to the group. He runs away on his own. He hands her Skidmark and says they can have everything in his warehouse except for a cigar, which is for when things get better. Daniel reaches Nick. Lola insists, there is nothing left to discuss. As he prepares to swing a hammer at Efrain, Lola runs over and stops him, outing herself as Efran's accomplice. Following directions from Al's tape, Strand locates Daniel's warehouse. Daniel has released some two thousand undead, forcing the soldiers into defense and creating a distraction for his party.
