And he has represented at the highest level. One Thursday night he gave me a call and said, Do you think you can go to Milwaukee and talk to Senator Herb Call. Incredibly these three guys were literally engaged. Last year, he was sidelined for several months while he recovered from an eye injury he had sustained in The Run. It's the same way she'll listen through what I'm going through. But it was so much fun. But in a short period of time, the prospect and the opportunity of just not running a team, but kind of building a city and the real estate and the expansion and kind of where Milwaukee was as a city and kind of an inflection point was just kind of one of these miracle situations. We were either 29th or 30th in a league of 30 teams, we were in a 25-year-old arena, that part of this was how do we get a new arena built? That's what and that's ongoing. Peter: got to do what youre going to say and say what youre going to do and really be substantial. That is like what you live for. Peter: Well, I always default to the Cluckery. So, if you're against equality, then we probably never will understand or get along or agree with each other." John: I dont want to skip over that. Ive had some of my employees have been there and they say, its just amazing, just a wonderful place to watch a sporting event and Im just talking to one this morning and he just said, Great place, just a great arena.Were not going to go through this interview without talking, of course, about Giannis. Peter Feigin: Yeah. If you've been that lucky and you've been that blessed then you've got to share. Peter Feigin: Yeah, I think I moved, I graduated from college and had a job, had an opportunity for a job that was kind of nuts. God, I love it as a case study. "Of course, you have Greece, but Asia is mesmerized by Giannis. He's going to sell the team. Talk about the steps leading up to pulling off, living the dream, actually winning the championship. And I think the only thing anybody can control is their own effort and kind of their own dreams and where they want to go. Peter Feigin: And for a year of that, I kind of dropped everything and just kind of toured the country with an organized schedule, kind of understood the revenue part of it, kind of do. Well, I think again, it kind of goes back to we thought we were this awakened organization because our percentages looked good. And that's tough, too. Hey, so talk a little bit about impact. Everythings got to be perfect to do it and dont realize because like, hey, Ive never won a championship before, never run a ring so I just started the process and I didnt realize which I now do and why our owners wanted to be intimately involved with the design of the ring. But for us, it's kind of like, "How do we make an equal playing field? Give Light and the People Will Find Their Own Way. When Khris was a rookie, I said, "Do you know whose jersey you wearing?" Peter Feigin: That's an interesting statement. I think engagement and investment in the community and social responsibility is like a big deal. Peter: The ice cream truck. John: Thats so true. It's truly like a restart. Michael Red: If you had to go back to your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give your 16-year-old self? Peter: Yeah. So, you take away every form of a 20- to 30-year-old's life outside of basketball, you take away their family in a big way and by the way, then you isolate them, in basically like a stay at home kind of mode in the middle of a pandemic and really like social justice, kind of uprising while they're locked into a bubble. Its a difference maker, especially now in our labor market. Some people dont like to hear that anymore. He notes that with the Bucks also opening a G League team calledthe Wisconsin Herdthis past fall, there was internal debate about making the investment, but Edens was a notable force moving the decision forward. We discussed his incredible career accomplishments at major brands, his rise from recruiter to President, handing out parking tickets in the Bucks lot, working for social justice in the epicenter of the global movement, and his unique leadership style.
